How to Change an Apple AirTag Battery

Apple AirTags have become an indispensable tool for many users, providing a simple and effective way to track and locate items. However, like any battery-powered device, the AirTag’s battery will eventually need to be replaced. In this article, we will guide you through the process of changing an Apple AirTag battery, ensuring that your tracking device remains functional and reliable.

Before you begin, it’s important to gather the necessary tools and materials. You will need a small flathead screwdriver, a pair of needle-nose pliers, and a new CR2032 battery. You can purchase a replacement battery from any electronics store or online.

Step 1: Prepare the AirTag

Start by removing the AirTag from its case. Gently twist the AirTag to release it from the case, and set the case aside. Be cautious while handling the AirTag to avoid damaging it.

Step 2: Remove the old battery

Using the flathead screwdriver, carefully remove the two small Phillips head screws that secure the back cover of the AirTag. Once the screws are removed, gently lift the back cover off the AirTag.

With the back cover removed, you will see the old CR2032 battery. Use the needle-nose pliers to carefully pull the old battery out of its compartment. Be sure to hold the battery by its edges to avoid damaging the adhesive that holds it in place.

Step 3: Insert the new battery

Take the new CR2032 battery and align it with the positive (+) and negative (-) symbols on the battery compartment. Carefully place the new battery into the compartment, ensuring that it is properly seated.

Step 4: Reassemble the AirTag

Place the back cover back onto the AirTag and secure it with the two Phillips head screws. Use the flathead screwdriver to tighten the screws, but be careful not to overtighten them.

Step 5: Reattach the AirTag to its case

Slide the AirTag back into its case, and ensure that it is securely in place. You can now test the AirTag to make sure it is functioning properly.

By following these simple steps, you can easily change the battery in your Apple AirTag and keep it running smoothly. Remember to handle the AirTag and its components with care to avoid any damage.
